In all things of nature, there is something of the marvellous.

OUR mission:
to inspire an understanding and appreciation of our environment and the natural world through the cultural arts and films that transform perspectives.
our VISION:
Art, in any form, moves people… and film is a powerful tool. Participants at the festival weekend can expect to see exceptional films & documentaries in nearly 20 different genres, including adventure, conservation, sustainability, wildlife, water, animation, and more. Films run anywhere from one minute to a full-length feature. We host filmmakers and special guests for audience Q&A at film screenings and panel discussions. There are talks and break-out sessions in locations throughout downtown, and art and photography exhibitions. Plus- live music at all the receptions and parties! Our guests are talented established and emerging filmmakers, artists, musicians, environmental experts, and community leaders who enhance the connective experience for our enthusiastic, engaged audience.
It’s more than just a weekend event- it’s an experience!
OUR GOAL:
Combine powerful film programs with other art forms that address pressing environmental issues.
Inspire building a resilient, environmentally sustainable community.
Provide opportunities that encourage networking, learning and sharing ideas.
Connect environmental nonprofits, partners and organizations for a vibrant, collaborative community.
OUR STRATEGY:
Continuously provide exceptionally thought-provoking curated film programs that are enhanced by additional cultural arts events. Collaborate with community partners, other sponsors, and supporters to initiate a conversation with active and interested constituents. Expand our existing audience with additional smaller, mobile programs during the rest of the year. Create a connection to the environment.. humans are meant to be a part of nature, not apart from it.
OUR STORY:
Our event is modeled on the Flagship Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City and Grass Valley, CA. Considered one of the premiere festivals of its kind and was established by the South Yuba River Citizens League 20 years ago. Nearly 10,000 people from around the world attend the five-day event in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas of Northern California. The majority of our film content is sourced from the Flagship WSFF. In 2017, WSFF Trees Columbus hosted the first of four events before the pandemic. By 2019, ours had quickly become the largest ON TOUR event in the country.
NATURE NOW was established in 2021 to grow the annual film festival experience and related programs into a signature event that attracts an increasing regional audience... and beyond.
We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

our AUDIENCE
More than just a demographic, our audience is ‘plugged in,’ and interested in making a difference! Since 2017, nearly 3,000 people have attended our local film festival programs. Our audience is engaged, informed, eager to learn, and make intentional decisions in their lifestyle choices. An estimated 75% surveyed say these films inspire them to be more involved in environmental issues and impacts. They typically have advanced degrees, upper-level income, and support charitable causes… and local business. 60% are under the age of 44. Their attendance benefits our local economy, and visitors come away with amazing things to say about their experience. NATURE NOW is also dedicated to reaching an even broader audience that is inclusive of an array of different sectors in our community.
